Well last night was Friday Night Sew In (their 2nd anniversary) sponsored by Heidi and Bobbi and this time I had a girlfriend sew with me – that is way more fun than sewing alone! I took plenty of photos to share with you so you can see my beautiful friend Stephanie! I was going to start working on my next quilt, but decided to knock out a Christmas gift instead! This is some adorable fabric I picked up on our quilt shop bus trip last month, to make a purse for my niece Gabby because she loves pink, flowers, butterflies & polka dots!
The name of this fabric is called Love U by Deb Strain for Moda
I used a pattern for a messenger bag by Falafel and the Bee and it was super easy to follow! I love this little purse and I’m sure she will too…
For appetizers we had some Messina Hof wine, creamy brie, dill
For dinner (which happened around 9 pm, we had chicken eggplant, spinach pesto and bison brie quesadillas and hatch green chili mac ‘n cheese.
and for dessert we had cupcakes: Stephanie’s was Nutella and mine was Turtle. yum!
Here is Stephanie with her finished gathered clutch. I am so proud of her, first time sewing a zipper on! We had so much fun…and now we are planning to get together next month for FNSI but at her house!

Looks like fun! Wish I was closer, so I could learn to sew with you girls!!! Gabby is going to love this purse, no doubt about it...her favorite Auntie made it for her. Hugs~~
Wow, what a fun evening--and so productive, too! My daughter would love one of these.
Now that is right up my alley! Girls night, sewing but most importantly, good food! right on!
You are awesome! Thanks for linking back to me. You did a wonderful job on the bag! I love those fabrics. Fantastic!

Your niece is going to love that purse. The colours match the ones in the skirt she's wearing in the Disneyland photo.
And Stephanie's gathered pouch turned out great.
I can't imagine a more fun way to spend time with a friend than to spend it sewing together for FNSI.
Sounds like you had a fun FNSI. Lovely bag for a little girl! A cheer for Stephanie too as sewing in a zipper the first time can be a bit overwhelming.
Cheers,
Robyn
It is fun having a sewing nite with a friend isn't it? My best friend lives in Colorado and I am in Florida. We usually meet up via Skype on Friday nites and sew together. So see, you don't even have to live in the same state to sew with a friend!
