Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am such a last minute Lucy lately!  Here are some Valentine cards I made to send to my sister Val & BIL Tom (left-Wreath of Love), nephew Joey (middle-Capture My Heart) and niece Gabby (right-S.W.A.K.).  These sets are all from Taylored Expressions.  I have missed stamping with those cute stamps!  There just doesn’t seem to be enough time to use all the stamps I have or time to stamp period with the limited free time I seem to have lately!

I had to make quick cards so I though ATC size would be perfect since I had to get this in the mail ASAP!  I snuck in a few candies and some $1 toys from Michael’s for Joey & Gabby.  They will be so excited about it! 

Hope you have a fun, love filled day!  It’s not anything John and I really go all out for but I did get 2 beautiful bouquets of assorted colored roses last year (one he purchased, the 2nd was an error on their part!)  I’m sure we will go out to eat somewhere so I can get a break from cooking although I love to cook!

TE February Blast from the Past–Go Green!

Hi there!  I’m so glad you joined me for this month’s customer hop with Taylored Expressions!  Our theme this month is Go Green!  Either use green on your project or recycle!  For my card, I chose to go green because I just got my new Key Ingredients subscription this weekend and couldn’t wait to use them!  I used Discover Your Wings in the Whimsical Wishes line because I felt it went so well with the beautiful pattern paper by My Mind’s Eye – Lush!  One thing I love about Taylor’s key ingredients and project pantry selections is that she uses the freshest, trendiest and fabulous pattern papers and hand picks all the fun coordinating embellishments and they are never the same!  This month, there is bling by My Mind’s Eye – the Lush collection of course!  That is what the bling is in the center of the ivory paper flower.  Another thing that is so cool, is that there is a gallery with creations made by Taylor & her key ingredients design team as well as downloadable inspiration sheets!  If you’d like more details about what I got in my kit and read all about  it click here: key ingredients subscription program.

With Friends Like You…

who needs Martha Stewart?  Ha!  This sentiment cracks me up in the TE set What’s Cookin’? 

This is my February card for Jen’s sketch for you to try which I happened to make a few weeks ago but have forgotten to upload – and the deadline is just days away!  Did you know she is going to give away a ton of free product on Christmas Day and you can only be in the drawing if you play EVERY month this year.  I’m determined, especially since I LOVE her fresh sketches!  I used papers from the October Afternoon  Cherry Hill Collection.  Ribbon from my stash and a cute rose from the Taylored Rose Garden (on Sale right now!)

Taylored Expressions release day!

Well I am a few days late and a dollar short but TE had their release day on Friday!  I had no internet at home for 6 days because we had quite a wind storm blow through last Monday night that broke the pole in half and caused the box to fall on the roof!  If we hadn’t already been awake because of the tree branches hitting the house, we would have been more scared hearing that bang.  We had to wait for them to come on Wednesday and then they decided to replace the pole with another that shouldn’t break (the wind will be able to pass through it) but they didn’t have it with them and would come back on Saturday – can you say frustrated??  Luckily I had my 3 days of TE sneak peeks scheduled by Sunday evening but I was so upset when Thursday came and we still didn’t have internet and I didn’t have my release day project uploaded!  Then the snow came on Thursday evening and we stayed home from work on Friday so I posted my card on Facebook but it wasn’t the same!

So here is my card using the new Wreath of Luck set that I just had to combine with the cute pup from Beary Special because the St. Patty’s hat fits PERFECTLY on his noggin, don’t ya think?  I had so much fun making this card and couldn’t wait to share it!

TE Sneak Peek Day 3: It’s a Banner Day

So happy you’re joining us for Day 3 TE sneak peeks!  Today we have a special stamp set concepted by a TE customer Iwona Palamountain called It’s a Banner Day and we have a coordinating Taylored die too!

I have a fun new product to share with you that Taylor will be carrying in the TE Store, acrylic frames by Darcie Heater.  I combined the new It’s a Banner Day (hello friend sentiment) with Let’s Do Coffee in the Apple Doodle, Ink line of stamps.  I used the Large House frame to show Tena having a cup of coffee but missing her friend who is not at her house to enjoy it with.  This would make a great gift for a friend who you miss spending time with.  Unfortunately for me, I have about 6 friends I would love to send this to that I haven’t seen in a long time but since I don’t know who to send it to just yet, I will hold onto it until the right person is revealed to me.  I had a lot of fun decorating this frame and won’t tell you how long it took because of ALL the paper-piecing I did (I lost track of time anyway!).  The packaging comes with complete easy-to-follow directions and Taylor will be carrying lots of varieties in the store for you to choose from.

TE Sneak Peek Day 2: Fashionista & Wreath of Luck

So glad you’ve joined us for Day 2 sneak peeks with Taylored Expressions!  On the menu today, we have 1 full size and 1 petite set and a Lucky Sampler to get you ready for St. Patrick’s Day projects! 

For my first project, I have a card to share with you using Fashionista, a new set in the Apple Doodle, Ink line of stamps featuring TEna!  She is one hot chick in her cute dress and knee high boots, eh?  This card was a lot of fun since I love combining sets, I paired her with Window Shopping for the BIG SHOE SALE she is eyeing!  On the inside of the card there is a sentiment that says, “when I get tired of shopping, I sit down and try on shoes” isn’t that too funny?  I can’t say it’s me because I am not much of a shoe person, or shopping person for that matter but this is still a FUN set for me to play with because I do have some gal friends this card would be perfect to send/give to, especially if I want to slip in a gift card.

For my second project, I have a St. Patrick’s Day treat to share with you using the new Wreath of Luck petite set illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line.  I am also using products that will be available in the Lucky Sampler that will be available in a limited quantity on Friday for release day!  I had fun coloring this wreath, which was die cut using the wreath die.  I added some ribbon and a little stamped horseshoe from the set to the bottom of the wreath.  Inside the favor treat are some green key lime life savers (sorry I forgot to photograph that).  I used some sticky tape on the bottom of the favor and adhered some of the green sparkly fluff that comes in the sampler for a fun border.

TE Sneak Peek Day 1: Cozy Cottages

Welcome to Day 1 of Sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions!  Today we are sharing projects made with our new set in the TE Giving Tree program!  I love that Taylor releases a new stamp set every quarter to donate a portion of the sale to various charities! 

When you purchase Cozy Cottages (which was illustrated by Nancy McKinney, from Feb-April) you'll be helping to support the Habitat for Humanity!
Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Here is the card I made using Cozy Cottages and 3 Taylored Dies: Whimsy Tree, Picket Fence and Cloud Duo.  This card was a lot of fun to make, especially when I started adding glitter with stickles to the dies!  I used my new Grand Nestabilities Scallop Square die (the smallest) which measures 4.5” so now I have more options for square cards!

Handmade with Love Gloves & card

Hi there!!  I have been enjoying crocheting lately and have a project with matching card to share with you that I made for a dear friend’s birthday in Feb.  I found a cool pattern on-line for these Easy Crochet Wristers (fingerless gloves so you can keep your hands/wrists warm and still be able to do things like use a computer & phone).  I made myself a pair and figured I would get a jump start on some handmade Christmas gifts and make more.  But because this friend has a birthday this month, she is getting them now since it’s still cold here.  I already know she likes them because she saw my pair and said she would like some and then I told her I was already making them.  But the matching card will be a surprise still *wink*  they are so fast & easy to make, I finish them in several days!

Here is a close up of the card, since I covered up the little heart accent on the first photo.  I used Crafty Cuppie who happens to be knitting (and crocheting is with 1 needle) but it still works!    I took the layout from my card from an SU! magazine that I have in my sketch book – it was a fun one!  The card came together in less than 20 minutes!

Update on John: He is doing well, had his post-op appt with his surgeon yesterday and said he was doing well.  Goes back in 8 weeks.  We got out yesterday for a little ‘date’ after work – he came up to my office so I could show him around and we went to the movies and out to eat.  We saw True Grit which was a pretty decent movie.  The acting was great but we walked away from it saying, ‘is that it"?’ it went by too fast.  He is out Geocaching (or rather driving 3 other Geocachers around) in San Antonio today while I stamp my heart out for the next TE release (sneak peeks start Tues Feb 1st!)

TE Release Day–Time to Dig In!!

I have a card to share with you using Rest & Renewal which I paired with Miniature Motifs on Choice Snow White cardstock with Memento London Fog ink (stamped off on scrap paper first).  I love the soft look it has because sometimes you may want to have something softer than black.  In fact, this card qualifies for the Grey is the new black Moxie Fab challenge on their blog.  I used new Echo Park Be Mine papers, Webster’s Pages Grey Bloomers, Pink Carnation silk ribbon, a pink rose and rose pearls to complete my vintage feminine card!

TE Sneak Peek: A Little Love & Kid at Heart

Welcome to our 3rd day of sneak peeks with Taylored Expressions!!  Today we have 3 more sets to share with you and I have 2 projects using 2 of the sets to share! 

 

 

My first project is some Valentine’s matchbox treats with a sweet surprise inside using A Little Love, a sweet set which coordinates with the favor frame die illustrated by Taylor herself for the TE stamp collection.  I also used the new Valentine’s Project Pantry that you can learn more about all the contents on Taylor’s blog.  I just adore the papers which are We R Memory Keepers Be My Valentine collection.

This is a very easy mass produced treat you can make for your kid’s classmates if they allow candy treats or your co-workers.  I kept the outside very simple to show you that your treats don’t need to be super fancy to pack a big punch!  Here is a picture of the inside where I put a little sentiment. 

The next project is a personal favorite of mine, using a sketch I grabbed from my sketchbook (by SU!) and made a cute boy themed card using the new set Kid at Heart which was also illustrated by Taylor!  It is an adorable solid image set with coordinating sentiments to appeal to kids of ALL ages, you know most of us are really kids at heart anyway right?  I know I am. I used papers from the Echo Park Little Boy Collection which is super fun!  I put Christmas red stickles on the hearts in the back of the dump truck.  This card is going to be sent to my adorable nephew Joey for Valentine’s Day. I bet he’ll love it (especially because I will put MONEY! inside) Here is a cute picture I took of him playing with his new dump truck when they visited in November, my DMIL gave it to him (his Gramma Donna).  This was taken the last day they were here when we decided to stay at the house until we had to drive them to the airport.  We walked around the property and collected pretty rocks and then they played in the dirt and HAD A LOT OF FUN!  It happened to be the MOST fun they had and it made my heart happy!  I see a scrapbook page in the near future with this picture.  I wish I had snapped more of him playing with the dump truck.

TE Sneak Peek: Wreath of Love

Welcome to Day 2 of TE Sneak peeks!  Today I have a card to share with you using the new Whimsical Wishes Petite stamp set Wreath of Love, which was illustrated by the talented Nancy McKinney!  TE stamps are made of the highest quality rubber; die cut for you to start stamping as soon as they are taken out of the package!  All you have to do is put them on an acrylic block  and stamp your heart out!  They also come on a sturdy full color storage panel and fit 4 sets into the Mini Binder Boxes for great stamp organization no matter how big or small your creative space is!
On my card, I used the new Hearts Impression plate too; I absolutely adore them because they are double-sided so you get 2 for 1!!   I also used several Taylored Dies for my card, an older one and 2 new ones!  See at the end of my post for a complete list of supplies I used on my card.

TE Sneak Peek: Rest & Renewal

Welcome to Day 1 Sneak Peek for TE!  It’s he new year and that means a lot of us are in the resolution/goal mode and a lot of us are usually in the rest & renewal mode after a jam-packed holiday!  So here we are with 2 new sets to help you in whatever mode you find yourself if and can encourage in someone else! 
I am sharing some 3D projects I made using the new Rest & Renewal set in the Lasting Impressions line of stamps.  It is a coordinating set to the New Beginnings set, which others on the design team are sharing with us today.  The Scriptures and sentiments in the set I’m showing fit inside the Frame It Up Die we are releasing as well.  I made an encouraging desk set. 

Here is a small frame I had in my stash that I thought would be perfect for this set.  All I did was stamp the Scripture on my designer paper and put it in the frame and adhered a small rose to the top. 


This next item is a 3x3 post-it note cover I made.  Again, just stamping on the designer paper and adding a small strip of ribbon and a rose.  The pen I had in my stash is designed to put a small photo inside but I chose to put some designer paper stamped with the sentiment, “Every Day is a New Day”, what a great reminder when you have a lousy day.  The encouraging aspect is that you can always start fresh the next day. 
Lastly, I grabbed a jumbo paper clip from my stash, and adhered some circle punches on it with the sentiment “rest your soul” – I know I can find rest in reading my Bible (which I should do more often), or curling up with a good book so this can be my reminder to make time for me & God each day.

SFYTT–Love is in the Air

Happy New Year to everyone who is still out there reading my blog!!  I know I haven’t posted  since before Christmas, I just had to take a much needed break to enjoy the holidays and this week I got a cold that really wiped me out!  Our Christmas was very nice and New Year’s was too, we went to dinner with some Geocachers and just hung out relaxing on Friday night and we were home by 10:00 before the roads got crazy.

I have a Sketch For You To Try from yesterday to share using the Taylored Expressions set, Love Everywhere!  I know the card is a little busy but I kinda like it.  I used new papers by Echo Park called Be Mine.   If you participate in the SFYTT, you should check out Jen’s update, she has changed things up a bit and it suits me just fine, I love her sketches!

Merry Christmas Snowman

Hi there – I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, needless to say it’s just a busy time of year and on top of that, our office building is getting ready to move!!  It has been SO hectic there, it’s crazy but once we move and get settled, it’s going to be SO awesome!  I will share more soon about that. 

In the meantime, here is a fun one-layer card I made using Hangin’ Out - at the Northpole (Whimsical Wishes line) for Taylored Expressions.   This would be a great card for mass producing, as the snowman was quick & easy to color and the glitter from the stardust stickles really packs a big holiday punch, don’t ya think? I also used the smaller snowflakes from Winter Wonderland to make it look like the snowman threw them in the air!  I colored the snowman with copic markers.

FTL90 Blooms

I just love the clean & simple style especially when I am on a time crunch and the mojo may be lacking a little!  I always love a good sketch too, so for my card today I went to the Fall-to-Layout blog and grabbed my TE stamps Garden Party Blooms and made this card using the FTL90.

TE Release Day! Time to Dig In!!

So today is the day – all the fabulous sets (full and petites), dies and impression plate are available for purchase!  I hope you have had fun hopping around all the designer’s blogs for all the eye candy & fabulous ideas using the offerings!


For my project today, I have a card to share with you using one of the Crafty Petites sets, Sew Happy illustrated by Nancy McKinney!  I used almost all the same supplies as I did yesterday for my mini sewing kit: Crate Paper Restoration pattern paper, Choice Buttercream and grey cardstock.  I die cut a large scallop border from the pattern paper then layered some Ivory crochet trim and red ric rac over that.  Then added a Jenni Bowlin vintage cream button with ivory thread to make my card vintage, a style I love and aspire to do well!  I used 3 of the small images and they are all punched out with a 1” square punch so they are perfect for inchies!!  Since I used the sentiment ‘sewing mends the soul’, I decided to sew with some ivory thread and sewed crooked (a little hard to do since it's more natural to sew straight!)  Makes me realize I want to branch out and sew more than just on my cards *wink*  I colored the images with copic markers and added some silver half back pearls to the straight pins on the pin cushion.

We have a new offering at Taylored Expressions called Crafty Petites illustrated by the talented Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line of stamps!   They come with a full color panel like our larger sets {3” x 5.5”}  but with smaller images that are too cute to believe!  There are 7-8 per images per set complete with coordinating sentiments!  You may just have to pick up a set or two for yourself and a crafty friend too (makes great stocking stuffer for just $7.95!)

For my first card, I used the Kitschy Kitchen set with the little toaster and toast poppin’ up!  I used Prism cardstock in Baby Pink Medium, red cardstock from Cottage Christmas, Choice Snow White and Walk in the Park pattern paper by Echo Park.  Ribbon is Carnation Pink Poly Twill, cotton thread from my stash and Basic Grey button.

My next project is a little cover for a portable emergency sewing kit!  I used the Sew Happy craft petite set which is so fun for anyone who loves to sew!  I used Crate Paper Restoration pattern paper and,Choice Snow White and Classic Red Prism paper.  I cut the thread image out with my 1 1/4” to give you an idea of the size of the image.  I made a belly band to keep the kit closed.  

Here is a picture of the contents of the sewing kit with the belly band pulled off.  This would make a cute little gift for any gal who always wants to be prepared!!
