SA/DF CCCC (Clearly Cool Card Challenge)

This is my first time making a clear card (wasn't sure I had enough acetate to do it but I did!) and it was fun!  You can tell it was my first time because I put a snowflake right smack dab on top of Coco's right eye!  I didn't lay my image down before stamping my snowflakes, oh well!   This is a challenge posted on the SA blog as well as Papercraft Planet and if you play you could win this fun set Santa's Sweet Shoppe (and free sentiments)!  But never fear if you already have this set you can choose another if you win!!  Just be sure to use keyword SADF1208 when uploading to SCS or PCP and you have until December 30th to play so no excuses - take a break from all the hard work preparing for Christmas & make a clear card & increase your chances at getting free rubber!!   Pin It

DF Coco & Chocolate Treats!

I love Coco the polar bear so much from Doodlefactory Santa's Sweet Shoppe by Starving Artistamps that I had to make a chipboard ornament with him!

And here is a little tote box to house a gingerbread chocolate I got at the dollar store. I covered it with my Basic Grey Fruitcake paper and put Gio (happy) holding his lollipop hopping in front of his house to wish you a Merry Christmas!! Below is a picture of the chocolate inside. I love how you can make a $1 item so cute with the right packaging!

Glittery Coco

Well folks - remember I started posting last weekend my new Doodlefactory Santa's Sweet Shoppe cards?  I promised to show you my DH's favorite of the stack - here he is, Coco who is in the blistery weather trying to keep his coat dry & insides warm with a big cup 'o cocoa!

I used my DCVW glitter stack for the background piece which I LOVE!!  I had fun coloring in the sentiment with colors I used on the card - browns & blues.

What do you think of Coco?? I love his sweet smile and have to admit, polar bears really are cute - especially the cubs!!

If I've tempted you with buying this set - don't forget you can get 10% off (there is a code on the right of my blog)  I stamped all day today so I will have lots to share this week!

Grumpy & Sad Holidays...

Here is Marmalade, she is not so keen on this whole holiday thing - so Bah Humbug! is what she says as she stands in front of the decorated Christmas tree with her hands on her hips! The expression on her face cracks me up! I used SCS sketch challenge 202 (SC202) from last week or my card.

Here is Gio (sad) which is what I feel when I think that I won't be with my sisters, niece & nephew for Thanksgiving or Christmas!  I chose to color & bling up my gingerbread house with copics, liquid pearls & rhinestones, so fun!

I used 80 lb Pure Luxury cardstock to stamp & color my main images on both cards, which just came out by Gina K Designs-it is just awesome!

SA Doodlefactory Challenge - Let's make a Scene!!

Donna D. on the SA design team suggested in the Starving Artistamps group on Papercraft Planet that we start a weekly dt challenge, and well you know me & a challenge~love 'em! I am starting with this first one.

I love making a scene (not an obnoxious in your face kind of one but with my stamps!) specifically, my Doodlefactory stamps which lend themselves to creative gathering of the characters since they are sized relatively the same. That is one of the first things that drew me to Starving Artistamps - the Doodlefactory images. Irene does a bang up job with their expressions, I love the fact they are all named-it brings them to life for me!

My challenge this week is to make a scene of some sort - tell a story with your stamps.

My card uses Santa, his sleigh-full of presents & the North Pole, I made some snow by tearing paper and covered it with stickles. I love this Santa (his beard is covered with Liquid Pearls, I love how the sun is reflecting on it, love the shine! Santa is just the jolliest around! He is raring to get to the North Pole or Bust! This set totally reminds me of the year I was 11 years old and I was in the Christmas play at school, I was Jolly the head elf. I remember wearing red tights, green shirt & shorts and had a cute elf hat & shoes. All my best friends were in the play too. The funniest thing I remember is when Donald Chew (can't remember his character name) was so nervous during the play, when he went to get the tray of cookies from the table accidentally spilled them ALL over the floor! No big deal except they were really checkers so they all rolled and made a bunch of noise and nearly everyone lost character (but didn't!) because it was so funny! The audience couldn't help it though, I heard some laughs from them!

I hope you have a chance to play & upload your card to the SA/DF group so we can see your creation & feel free to post on your blogs to get the word out about these fun stamps! If you have doodlefactory stamps, please use them it's fun but if you don't please play anyway then go get some DF stamps *wink* Edited to Add: please use keyword SADT111708 if uploading to PCP or SCS!

Santa's Sweet Shoppe Sketches!

Since being out of town & working on new release stuff, I have missed working on some of my favorite sketch challenges like Lauren's & Beate's to name a few.  So, Friday night I got my new Starving Artistamps Doodlefactory Collection of Santa's Sweet Shoppe and I was so excited to get them inky yesterday (Friday I had to do yucky stuff like my taxes, but that's o.k. at least I am not going to wait until the last minute like I usually do & get all frustrated because John wants them done now! I am caught up through Oct btw, and I feel so good about it!)

Back to the stamps; I just adore the images Irene illustrated for this set & the sentiments are so great too!  I love that Tracey is offering the sentiments for FREE ($11.95 value) when you get the set.  They are deeply etched red rubber & she sells the sheet as is - you just get the cling mount she sells in the store, slap it on & use your Tim Holtz' Tonic Scissors (what, you don't have them? well let me tell you they are a MUST if you cut your stamps like I do with SA & Gina K stamps).  Onto my cards - this first one uses Lauren's Saturday sketch - her sketches are always real fun, unstructured but in an organized way - really out of the box.  I know when I make a card from scratch I hardly think of using scraps of cardstock here & there, I tend to keep them bigger, but it's a great way to use your scraps instead of cutting a full sheet of cardstock up!  That's how I chose my colors, based on what I had as scraps just pulling from my file.  I used PTI's lemon tart for my base & stamped the star in gold metallic ink.  The silouette guys (gingerbread man, elf & reindeer stamped on my focal image in the other colors I used chocolate chip & real red and my card ws nearly done!  The red polkadot ribbon is Pure Luxury ribbon by Gina K.
I made this card in about 10 minutes and of all the cards I made yesterday using this set (7) this was John's 2nd favorite - I will show you the rest over this next week and be sure to tell you which is his favorite.

Here is Gio (happy) did you know all the Doodlefactory characters have names?  I just love that feature of these stamps - I think it really makes them come to life for me!  I usually don't add the names to my cards but I thought it would be cute here since Gio the Gingerbread man is happy holding his big 'ol yummy candy cane & is wishing you a Merry Christmas!  This is Beate's Friday sketch, which was perfect for this image!  I stamped Gio on kraft cardstock & colored him with my pure color pencils and the candy cane was colored with red & white prismacolor pencils. The ribbon is from SU! Alpine ribbon originals, available in the current mini catalog (again using a scrap I had).  I actually made eyes on Gio (theycome bare, like his buttons so you have the option to color them in like I did, leave them alone or how about putting Googlie eyes?  I bet that would be great!)  note to self.

Oh don't forget, if you'd like to get these new DF stamps, you can get 10% off your purchase by using code savetendb at checkout!  Tracey ships via Priority Mail so you will get them in 2-3 days and be stamping with these fun characters in no time!!

I'll be back soon with more to share.  For now, I must work on my stamp club stuff for Thursday.
